Today I had my first ever french manicure. I normally don't do anything with my nails, because being a nurse I am not allowed to wear nail varnish at work. Plus I have to keep them short. Today I broke up for my Christmas Holidays. I have three weeks off, so why not treat myself to some Nail TLC? I didn't really know what to expect but my nails were soaked, filed, skin clipped around the nail, moisturised, painted with white tip and a slight pinky colour on the majority of the nail. They look lovely. However I can't help but wonder if I was ripped off or not. I paid £13. Is that normal?
The story so far I have a busy christmas ahead of me. This week I have to work really hard on my assignment. On Friday or Saturday I am driving to London to see Phill and then bringing him back to Tamworth with me on Monday 22nd December. We are staying in Tamworth until 11am on Christmas day and then heading up to Manchester to see Phills parents. We are staying in Manchester until 30/31st of December and then going back to Tamworth for new years. Phill and I both start back at work on 5th Jan 04. My flatmates don't get back from their holiday until the second week on Jan. So to spare myself from being Lonely I will proberly stay in Tamworth a few extra weeks IF it is possible to travel to Rugby without too many problems. (posted 12:28 AM) |

This weekend Phill came up to Coventry to see me. We had a good weekend. On Saturday afternoon we travelled back to Tamworth to see my parents and to help put up the christmas Tree.
A few years ago it was 23rd December and we still didn't have a christmas tree. My mum had seen an artifical tree in B&Q for half price. The tree was ten feet and looked lovely. So as a suprise me and my siblings clubbed together and we went down to B&Q and bought the tree. We had to take it down off the shop floor ourselves and then shipped it back to our house. Mum was out at the time. We closed the curtains and assembled the tree and awaited mums return where she was greeted with a suprise.
Problem: Our living room ceiling is only 8Ft. Therefore as a result the tree is put up without the top on. Its not a problem, with the angel on the top - you can't really tell.
Doesn't the tree look lovely?
Late Saturday night Phill and I went to MacDonalds. I just fanced a drive and some juck food. I had a chicken premiere, Phill had a chicken sandwich, Dad had the Big tastie and Chris had some chicken Nuggets.
The Plan This week I have to start to write my assignment for Promoting children's health. I have a meeting with my tutor tomorrow morning, so I am hoping he can shed some light on the assignment. Then all week I am working on placement - with one day in Uni on Wednesday. Phill is coming up next weekend and then on Sunday I am going home for Christmas - yippee! (posted 10:36 PM) |
Extract from the poem/story 'T'was the night before christmas'
With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. More rapid than eagles, his courses they came, and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:
"Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
It been one of those mad few weeks. In the end I did manage to sucessfully cut down all my words on the assignment. It was then handed in two weeks ago. It was a relief for a short time and I did manage to have a break when Phill came to Coventry for his graduation. However I am now getting back into the swing of things. The story so far..... I am back on block placement at the Children's hospital at home, where I spend my placement going out for visits with children's nurses to see acutely ill patients in there own home. So far so good. This is my second week in placement. I have just next week before I go on my christmas holidays. After which I am in placement for a further four weeks before block theory looms once more. My second placement in march time will be on an acute ward. Then over summer my management placement will be on an orthopaedic ward - which is the same ward that I started on as a new 1st year student nurse. heh (All that time ago).
The assignment on the books at the moment is on Drug misuse prevention in adolescents. I have to identify and evaluate health promotion programs for individuals, groups and community. Word limit is 3500 words and its due in January. Although I would much prefer it done my Christmas week - that way I get a least some holiday.
I am not feeling overly well at the moment. I have a sore throat and the typical cold thats going round. This has hindered my efforts to get a good start on my assignment. (posted 10:22 PM) |
